Privacy Policy

BookMason Atlas is a knowledge infrastructure platform for the scholarly and independent publishing community, published by BookMason LLC. This policy explains what information this website collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. You can read every public page on this site without an account.

Effective date: October 24, 2026

Who we are

BookMason LLC ("BookMason", "we", "us") publishes BookMason Atlas at bookmasonatlas.com. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

Information we collect

What you send us. When you use a form on this site, such as the contact form, a demonstration request, or a founding partner application, we collect the details you enter so that we can reply. Depending on the form, that is typically your name, email address, organization, role, and the message you write.

Form submissions are delivered to the BookMason team by email. Public forms do not create a visitor profile and do not require an account.

How the site is served. Like most websites, this site is delivered by a hosting platform that processes standard technical data, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, in order to serve the page and protect the site from abuse.

Site usage events. We record a small number of first-party usage events, for example that a page was opened or that a "Launch Interactive Demo" button was clicked. These events tell us which parts of the site are useful. They are not used to build advertising profiles and are not shared with advertising networks.

Links we send to specific contacts. When we send an outreach link to a particular contact, that link can carry a token that records that it was opened, along with the date, the destination, the referring page, and the browser type. This applies only to links we send ourselves, and it is how we know whether a message was received.

What we do not ask for. We do not ask for payment card details, government identifiers, or health information through this site, and we do not want them sent to us through a form.

How we use information

We use the information described above only to:

  • reply to your message and arrange a demonstration
  • review a founding partner application
  • understand which pages, briefings, and demonstrations are useful, and improve the site
  • keep the site secure, prevent abuse, and diagnose faults
  • keep records we are required to keep, and enforce our agreements

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use the details you submit in a form to send you marketing that is unrelated to your request.

Cookies, measurement, and advertising

This site does not currently use advertising cookies, advertising pixels, or cross-site tracking technologies. Advertising is not part of how the site works today.

Essential storage. The hosting platform that serves this site may use essential cookies or local storage needed for security and, for signed-in administrators, to keep a session open. Essential storage is not used for advertising and does not follow you to other sites.

First-party measurement. The usage events described above are recorded against this site itself, and are not shared with advertising networks.

LinkedIn advertising: not currently active

BookMason Atlas does not currently run LinkedIn advertising, and no LinkedIn Insight Tag is installed on this site. If we begin advertising on LinkedIn, we would add the LinkedIn Insight Tag and update this policy first. That tag would place a cookie in your browser, allow LinkedIn to record which of our pages you visit, let us measure whether a campaign led to site visits, and let LinkedIn show related advertising to people who have visited. You would be able to limit it through the advertising preferences in your LinkedIn account and through your browser’s cookie controls. Until that changes, no LinkedIn advertising and no advertising cookie is in use here.

Third parties who process information for us

We keep this list short and specific:

  • Base44, the platform that hosts this site, stores the site’s data, and delivers the email that our forms produce.
  • Google Fonts, which serves the typography files the site loads. Your browser requests those files from Google’s font service.
  • Unsplash, which serves some of the landscape photography used on the public pages.
  • LinkedIn, but only if and when we enable LinkedIn advertising as described above. Until then, no LinkedIn tag or advertising cookie is present on this site.

We do not share the details you submit in a form with advertising networks, and we do not sell personal information.

How long we keep information

Contact, demonstration, and founding partner correspondence is kept in the BookMason team’s email for as long as we need it to serve you and to maintain business records, and is then deleted. We normally remove it within 24 months of our last exchange with you, or sooner if you ask us to.

Outreach link records are kept while an outreach campaign is current, and are normally removed when the campaign closes.

Essential technical logs are retained by the hosting platform for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.

How we protect information

This site is served over HTTPS. The administrator areas of BookMason Atlas sit behind sign-in and are reachable only by authorized accounts, and access to correspondence and records is limited to BookMason personnel who need it.

We keep the amount of information we hold small on purpose. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur. If one ever affected your information, we would tell you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you
  • correct information that is wrong
  • delete information we no longer need
  • stop sending you outreach

Write to us at info@bookmasonapp.com, or use the Contact link in the footer of any page, and we will normally respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, for example California or the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights, including the right to object to processing or to request a portable copy of your information, and we honor the requests that apply to you. Because we do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is nothing of that kind for you to opt out of.

Children

BookMason Atlas is a professional platform for the publishing industry. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we post the new version on this page and update the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will say so plainly here rather than leave you to compare versions.
